You’re too young
Hormone issues can indeed arise at any stage of life, and it's crucial to recognize that perimenopause may begin much earlier than expected. A standard menopause lab test can yield normal results while you may still be experiencing symptoms related to perimenopause. Therefore, having a healthcare provider who is dedicated to thoroughly interpreting your lab results, alongside your medical history and a physical examination, is essential. This approach helps to ensure that diagnoses are accurate and prevents the possibility of over or undertreatment.

Testimonials
2024
I've had serious health problems over these 66 years, and many interactions with doctors who are dismissive, or rushed, or checked-out. Dr. Mascorro was so wonderful! She spent time with me, discussed options, answered questions, took every issue I raised seriously, and made it easy to discuss some embarrassing topics. Believe me, this is not the norm. I left the office truly empowered (you guys chose the exact right name for your practice!) and hopeful. - MH

Frequently Asked Questions
get answers to all of your questions about Hormone treatment in Abilene, Texas
Can you do a telehealth?
Yes, in Texas; however, we prefer to do at least one in person visit to do a complete comprehensive exam and sonogram (if indicated) to help diagnosis underlying problems and prevent side effects from therapy.
Do you do bioidentical hormones?
Yes! Bioidentical means - produced by the body. Estradiol, testosterone and progesterone are our preferred therapy for menopause. We prefer FDA approved therapy, as it is safe and inexpensive. However, we can do compounded medications if preferred. Read about this here.
Do you prescribe non-hormonal treatments?
Of course! Some people are not candidates for hormone therapy or are hesitant to take hormones. However, no need to suffer! There are plenty of options to help with your symptoms and reduce long term problems. Read this summary here.
Do you do pellet therapy?
Pellet therapy has erratic absorption and, therefore, has more risks and complications than other transdermal or oral types of hormones therapy. Therefore, we do no endorse or use pellet therapy to deliver hormone therapy.
What are the most common side effects from hormone therapy?
Some women can develop unscheduled bleeding in which an underlying uterine problem needs to be evaluated. Also, while rare, some women have an increased risk of deep blood clot, bloating, GI side effects. We will certainly take your personal health history into our personalized recommendation to acheive your goals with the least risk.
Will I gain weight?
Estrogen will not cause weight gain. In fact, it has been proven to help you lose weight with diet/exercise if added to your regimen during menopause. If you are not doing strength training, however, testosterone can be associated with abdominal weight gain. Together, we will come up with the best plan for your goals and lifestyle.
