Holistic Approach

“To empower patients in all stages of life through quality and compassionate healthcare - one person, one visit, one treatment at a timeEmpowher Abilene

We started a new private practice after 30+ years of combined employed practice in obstetrics and gynecology because we dreamed we could do it better - providing honest, experienced, transparent high quality comprehensive healthcare utilizing wisdom and shared decision making - endorsing not only conventional but also holistic integrative medicine.

We, at EmpowHer Abilene, are rooted in the mission of Jesus Christ, and we strive to bring compassion, empathy and honesty to every patient every time.

About our Integrative Approach

We are 2 OB/Gyns with 30+ years of combined conventional medicine who are board certified with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Our mission in our new practice is education and thus empowherment. We understand that you are inundated with lots of information; however, it’s almost impossible to discern fact from fiction. It seems that misinformation (especially when tied to a profit) is a pandemic! Our goal is to do that medical research for you - using both continued education and experience, to help you make a non-biased yet educated decision about your own health.

At EmpowHer Abilene, we are committed to a unique approach that blends traditional and complementary healthcare practices to enhance patient outcomes. Our clinic stands apart in providing care that emphasizes education, individualism, and patient autonomy.

Our obstetric clinic exemplifies this blended model through various types of visits tailored to meet the diverse needs of our patients. We offer one-on-one consultations, convenient telehealth appointments, and extended 90-minute group classroom sessions. These classroom sessions are designed to maximize your knowledge on crucial topics such as pregnancy, nutrition, delivery options, and postpartum mental health.

This innovative approach is relatively new in the private physician sector, but it was born from our passion for creating a supportive and informative environment for our patients. We have received wonderful feedback about how well-prepared our patients feel for pregnancy, delivery, and the transition into motherhood. Our model not only fosters individual growth but also builds a sense of community among expecting mothers, providing a platform for shared experiences and support.

At EmpowHer Abilene, our approach to health extends beyond traditional medical practices. We emphasize the importance of holistic medicine, striving to heal and prevent disease in the entire body rather than just addressing symptoms. Our services include nutritional counseling, supplements, weight loss therapy, hormone optimization, pelvic floor therapy, neurotoxin treatment, IV therapy, and laboratory panels, all conveniently offered within our office.

We recognize that ongoing education is crucial in the ever-evolving field of medicine. For instance, Dr. Mascorro has recently completed her menopause society exam, positioning her as the only menopause provider in the greater Big Country area. Additionally, our entire team has participated in Heather Hirsch’s menopause course, which enhances our ability to support and optimize wellness for women during this important phase of life.

Barbie, and being a woman

“It is literally impossible to be a woman. You are so beautiful, and so smart, and it kills me that you don’t think you’re good enough. Like, we have to always be extraordinary, but somehow we’re always doing it wrong. You have to be thin, but not too thin. And you can never say you want to be thin. You have to say you want to be healthy, but also you have to be thin. You have to have money, but you can’t ask for money because that’s crass. You have to be a boss, but you can’t be mean. You have to lead, but you can’t squash other people’s ideas. You’re supposed to love being a mother, but don’t talk about your kids all the dang time. You have to be a career woman, but also always be looking out for other people. You have to answer for men’s bad behavior, which is insane, but if you point that out, you’re accused of complaining. You’re supposed to stay pretty for men, but not so pretty that you tempt them too much or that you threaten other women because you’re supposed to be a part of the sisterhood. But always stand out and always be grateful. But never forget that the system is rigged. So find a way to acknowledge that but also always be grateful. You have to never get old, never be rude, never show off, never be selfish, never fall down, never fail, never show fear, never get out of line. It’s too hard! It’s too contradictory and nobody gives you a medal or says thank you! And it turns out in fact that not only are you doing everything wrong, but also everything is your fault.I’m just so tired of watching myself and every single other woman tie herself into knots so that people will like us. And if all of that is also true for a doll just representing women, then I don’t even know. “
